The BEI Graphics Department maintains state-of-the-art hardware and software for computer simulation.
BEI contracts with TNO Road Vehicles Research Institute (in the Netherlands) for the use of their human body simulator program, MADYMO (MAthematical DYnamic MOdels). MADYMO is the most advanced computer program available for simulating three-dimensional injury events. Simulation results can be presented in video format or printed on color or laser printers. Examples of simulations produced at BEI include:
Car Crashes:
- Restrained occupants
- Unrestrained occupants
- Children in child restraints
Pedestrian impacts
Sports accidents involving:
- ATVs
- Horseback riding
- Waterslides
- Amusement park rides
Trip and fall events
Human vulnerability to inert debris
Human response to fragment impact in a blast environment
